Here is a short description of how to use some VBEdit features:
===============================================================================

DRAG & DROP:

If source and destination are within the same Child-window
(i.e., same file) then the channel is MOVED.
If you drag from one file to another then the channel is INSERTED and the
last 'free' channel in the list is removed.
If you drag slightly over the top of the channellist, it will automatically
scroll upwards. Dragging slightly over the bottom of the list scrolls
downwards.

Pressing the RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON anywhere on a channellist opens a
popup-menue with NEW, MOVE, EXCHANGE, DELETE.

-- MOVE and EXCHANGE record the index number of the current selection, wait
for a click on the next selection, and then move / exchange between these
two indexes. In the meantime the text 'Move to ...' or 'Exchange with ...'
is shown in the botom line of the child window.

-- NEW offers New Analog, New Digital and (when in Radio Mode) also New ADR.
The new channel is automatically placed at the currently selected position.

-- DELETE first shows a messagebox 'delete this item?(yes/no). If yes is
choosen the selected channel is converted to a free channel and
automatically moved to the bottom of the list.

NOTE: the right mouse button DOES NOT SELECT the channel, you must use the
left button to select the channel first.

COPY: There is no button for this function. Open TWO channel lists using
the same filename and drag from one list to the other. This method makes
copying easy to control. Just remember to remove the second copy of the
same file WITHOUT SAVING IT when copying is finished.

SEPARATE WINDOWS WITH EDIT FIELDS

You can move, resize or minimize the floating window containing all editable
channel data. Its position and size is saved when VBedit is exited.
There is a button to un-minimize the window (View Editor).
Header of this window always shows name of active child, i.e. if you are
using more than one List, the header tells you which list the information
belongs to.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FONT SETTINGS

All windows are resizeable. For optimum viewing with 640x800 use font size 8,
for 1152x864 use font size 12.
Any available font style in any available size is settable.
Make the VBedit look the way you want!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CHANNEL GROUPING:

- a group consists of any number of channels
- group channels do not need to be in a single block
- group channels are marked with a yellow background
- the number of channels marked is shown in the lower right corner of the list
  window
- double click on the desired channel to mark and add it to the group
- double click on a channel already marked removes the mark
Note: group markings are temporary. Any action that changes the sorting order
of the list also removes all group markings.!

If group channels are marked then:
- drag&drop a marked channel moves all marked channels to the destination
- drag&drop from one list to another inserts all marked channels
- PopUp Sort Menu : Delete - deletes all marked channels
- PopUp Sort Menu : Move - moves all marked channels
- PopUp Sort Menu : Exchange - no function for groups, a Warning Message is
                    shown
- PopUp Sort Menu : Clear Group Markings - self explanitory
- PopUp Sort Menu : Mark by Catagory - opens a catagory list to choose desired
catagory or catagories. Pressing OK on this list marks all
channels that have the corresponding catagory/catagories.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIFFERENCE ENGINE

As soon as 2 files are loaded the difference engine can be used.
Source for the difference list is the Child Window that was active when the
Difference button was pushed. The other file is the reference file.
You can choose whether or not to compare Video PIDs, Audio PIDs, Service IDs,
Category and Channel names; Satellite, Frequency (+/- 10 Mhz) and Symbol Rate
are always compared.
The output of the process is a third list containing all the differences found.
Using drag & drop you can then add the missing channels to your current list.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UPLOAD OF THE CHANNEL LIST TO THE VOLKSBOX

Each list opened within VBEdit (also the differences list just to verify which
new channels are receivable from your location) can be sent to your Volksbox
without leaving the program.
Pressing the PC->Volksbox button sends the list that is currently active to the
Volksbox.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

USER DEFINED TV CATEGORY, RADIO CATEGORY AND SATELLITE NAMES

VBEdit uses three external files called 'TVCat.txt', 'RadioCat.txt' and
'SatNames.txt'.
These files should be located in the same directory as VBEdit.exe.
Use the Notepad (or any text editor) to edit the catagory names in this file.
If each file does not exist then VBEdit uses default names.

To be compatible with the older version, the VBEdit will use the file called
catagory.txt if it doesn't find the TVCat.txt file.
If no files are found, default values are used.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SERVICE ID EDIT FIELD

The SID is used by the Volksbox to get Teletext and EPG information.
As you know, it cannot be manually entered from the Channel setting panel
but it is saved when the channel is stored using ATS.
Entering teletext mode on a channel stored using ATS (i.e. with SID value
stored too) is faster than entering ttx on the same channel with PIDs manually
entered.
And when you press HELP to get EPG, it shows "Searching for Service ID" if
the channel was manually stored.

Now VBEdit allows to set the SID value for all DVB channels. This should
speed up Teletext and EPG access, would allow to see teletext from coded
channels and, we think, could "help" the Volksbox to better manage the channel.
