Gast Geplaatst: 15 december 2002 Geplaatst: 15 december 2002 ik ben in ucs site geweest en dit is belangrijk voor alle keysearchers: Today, I have spent much of afternoon in conversations with Denny and others about the contents of an EMM for NTV Hayat - the first Via2 provider we know of, since Via2 has been around, who have sent a key update. Denny will shortly post the details of what he found today and it can have major implications for BF. There is still much uncertainty about precisely what we are dealing with here, and we have to look harder at it all in cold light of a new day too. But we don't want those of you who have worked so hard for BF to learn info from net rumours. So we are releasing the info to you the same time as we have it. There is a log of NTV Hayat sending an 09 EMM key update and that key is 16 bytes long. Why they would do this we can't figure. It is giving information away that they do not need to give away. They are still using 08 key. If card was actually hacked, updating would be no use to them cos that would mean eeprom had been read. And if it isn't hacked, why send an update and give that info away? One thought is that it could be a fake EMM - providers could do this. But there is another piece of information which means this may not be so. Timing of the ECM handling with an oscilloscope shows double length of Via1. If confirmed, we cannot BF a 128-bit key and there will be no BF solution for Via2. What this would mean for algo, we don't know. All information and indications have pointed to unchanged algo. Denny himself has argued that here many times in past. But it can be possible now we are dealing with 2DES, or even 3DES. Maybe, 2DES being the favourite. How a 16 byte key would be handled by card, if true, we don't know. Maybe, a new nano will appear as a clue. But for now, this is as much information as we have. If the worst comes true, then whatever happens, we know we have to stand by those who have got up off their arses and tried to have a go here at doing something for themselves. Right now, it is too hectic to say precisely what will happen. But we can promise with certainty that those who are now active searchers, and have been with this attempt through thick and thin, will be looked after. Any trust rating you have now will be kept. The keys you get access to now, you will go on getting access to. And as a team of many teams . . . we'll have to sit down and decide where we go from here. I think Wilhelm has some fun and legal ideas for BFs of the future . . . then some others of you might like to take a run at bruting some MKs for a change, including ones that are anything but easy to get hold of Maybe, we can offer a selection of choices. And in MK searches, what you find remains your own If the worst comes to the worst too for Via2, then for DT especially focus will shift to another project called CAFE, and it is certainly possible that any network we might make would include you folks who have stood up and showed you are prepared to make some effort for yourselves. There is much work to be done on this yet, as all things. Anyway, it has not been an easy day. You know what we know . . . and when we know more, you'll know that too. It's gonna be a few days before we know where we go from here. For now we can carry on searching with this one until all is confirmed 110%, and if it is, then we'll have move to a different kind of search as quickly as possible. Please bear with us. DT/UCS
