Update Aston Common Interface

Recommended Posts
New CAMs next week, software next month
According to Aston, the manufacturers of the Seca / Mediaguard CI CAM, the official Version 3 over-the-air software release will not be available until June 2000. On the 26th April 2000, Aston began test transmissions via Hot Bird at 13 degrees east on 12.539 GHz H (SR 27500, FEC 3/4), viewers trying to upgrade were only able to re-install the original Version 1.0 software, the download is no longer present. This follows the news that a version 1.03 of the successful Seca / Mediaguard CAM is to be made available next week. The major problem is that the Version 1.0 CAM often needs resetting, normally when changing to channels in a different package - for example switching from a Spanish Taquilla channel to a French Kiosk service would usually require the user to switch their digital receiver off and back on to be able to regain access. Version 1.03 is reported to have solved all known problems with the CAM. Although, Echostar digital receiver owners are reporting of no major faults when using the Version 1.0 software.
