STS-128/alISSe Shuttle mission with Christer Fugelsang - "GO" for Weds 26 August

Live

At 19:25 GMT this evening, Shuttle mission management gave the "Go" to load space shuttle Discovery's external fuel tank. Discovery's launch was postponed early this morning due to lingering thunderstorms in the vicinity of the launch pad.

Lift-off has been re-scheduled for tomorrow, 26 August, at 05:10 GMT with a launch window of +/- 5 mins.

The current weather forecast is 70 percent for favourable conditions for launch. The primary concern is cumulus clouds and showers within 20 nautical miles of the shuttle landing facility at the time of launch. Live coverage will begin tomorrow, 26 August, at 04:00 GMT with satellite relay of NASA TV launch coverage for Europe on AB1.

Highlights of the launch, lift off and arrival on orbit will be transmitted with first reactions from ESA key actors including Simonetta Di Pippo, ESA Director of Human Spaceflight at 06:30 GMT (15 min feed). These highlights will then continue to be available on the sites ftp://esa.contentcoders.com/ or http://video360.world-television.com/mediacorner/

All inflight mission coverage and events are subject to re-timing once there is a successful launch and will be separately announced. Normally, a 5 - 10 min digest of Flight Day Highlights will be posted on the ESA TV ftp site within 1 hour of end of NASA transmission and ESA TV will also carry major events such as hatch opening and special events with Fugelsang/De Winne live. Please monitor the ESA TV portal and read your mailings for updated details.

New mission background images are available on ESA TV ftp sites: ftp://esa.contentcoders.com/mpeg2 or on the ESA launch Media corner: http://video360.world-television.com/mediacorner/

This new video presents the overall mission, showing the last days of training and describing the planned activities of Christer Fuglesang and his fellow astronauts. On the same sites a Video News Release is already available with interview of Christer Fuglesang during his training in Houston.
