maar als dat een dreambox moet zijn heeft hij toch helemaal geen ci-slot nodig?

dat zou pas dreambox zijn,

Als je zonder hardware (CAM) MPEG2 wilt decoderen met de hoge bitrates die gebruikelijk zijn heb je heel wat meer power nodig dan een powerpc kan bieden. Een ander probleem is natuurlijk de gepatenteerde scrambling algoritmes (Irdeto, seco etc. ) Vandaar het CI slot.

Verder is het natuurlijk een uitstekend initiatief om zo'n apparaat onder opensource op de markt te brengen.

Ik ga in ieder geval alvast sparen, ik ga die kist fijn op de camping neerzetten. Hopelijk kan ik hem ook als spelcomputer gaan gebruiken!
